About the Dark Octopus

The Captain developed a fascination for the octopus while searching for treasure among the shipwrecks of the Pacific Ocean. The octopus is a truly mysterious creature. They are so very tactile and curious – they sense the world by watching and feeling – sending their tentacles out to touch and examine everything that captures their attention. They communicate in complex ways by changing the colour of their skin, texture, and making complex gestures with their tentacles. They collect beautiful things – octopuses really do have gardens around their lair – made from interesting shells, bottles and rocks that they collect. They are possessive and will put up a fight when you attempt to steal from them, but sometimes they will negotiate a trade. Their eight tentacles envelope the things they desire – feeling and tasting every inch of their prey with shapeless feelers that seem to reach everywhere at once. All things considered, Dark Octopus seems a fitting symbol for lust, desire, sensation, and the Captain's own ability to touch the dark side of the souls of those he teaches.
About the Captain
The mark of a gentleman is the confidence to be gentle by default, the courage to engage with violence when called for, the strength to love, and mastery of his inner darkness to know how and when to leave his mark on those who submit to him.
